Trek Bikes - You Can Find Anything

Customization is available now for Trek buyers. Customers are allowed to pick out each and every component for their cycle, from color to tires, saddle and seat types to handle bars. That allows for complete customer satisfaction, as well as an incredible bike that suits each person's individual needs.

The brand itself was founded in 1975, and began making steel touring frames during the bike boom of the 1970s. Demand for bicycles grew immensely, and so did Trek, becoming recognized as one of the best manufacturers in the world. The original intent of the company was to accomodate the mid to high end market, which was dominated by Japanese and Italian manufacturers. In the first year, the company sold around nine hundred hand brazed frame sets.

Within three years, sales of Trek bikes had reached nearly two million dollars worth, but sales plateaued in the late 1970s, due to space constraints. Trek couldn't make enough bikes to meet their demand! The new corporate headquarters and factory were built to deal with this problem. By the 1980s, Trek had over eight hundred and fifty models out there and was making bikes for the steel road bike racing sector.

The first bonded aluminum frame showed up in the mid 1980s, and three years later the first carbon composite frame appeared. Cycling apparel and expansion into foreign markets soon followed. Bicycles from this manufacturer began to do extremely well in racing circuits, and their popularity grew elsewhere, too. Comfortable seatings, unique gearing, and thicker tires made Trek stand out from the rest.

Higher end Trek bikes are currently built in Waterlook, Wisconsin, where the company is headquartered. However, not all bikes are made there - many are built in Taiwan and China. This company offers a wide range of bikes to meet the demands of riders all over the world. Increased demand for bicycles for health, economic, and environmental reasons have done good things for Trek's profit margins, and it's no surprise. After all, for reliable, quality bikes, these are some of the best ones out there.

Trek products, under their name and their various lines, are sold through nearly two thousand independent dealers in the North American continent, as well as through Asian and European offices. Trek bikes are offered through distributors in about ninety countries all over the world. From introductory bicycles, designs specifically made for women, there are bikes from Trek that will fit the needs of any rider.
