Road Bike Forks for Sale
The front fork on a road bike plays an important role in steering the bicycle as well as providing adequate balance. The fork is constructed with two “dropouts”, or bars that connect to the front wheel axle, which is attached to the rim. A term used in describing front road bike forks is “offset”, which refers to the angle at which the dropouts are curved, which places the tire further in front of the rider. In mountain bikes these would often be straight to allow for suspension, but for road bikes without a suspension system in the front, they are often curved to place the wheels out in front of the bike. By curving the fork outward in the front, it helps to provide some level of shock absorption, even where no shocks are present.
With such an integral role in the overall bike assembly, front forks are not an item to try to find the cheapest price. Although low cost steel models are available, a lighter and stronger front fork made of carbon fiber, titanium, aluminum or even magnesium should be considered.
