A Trailer Bike is a Great Way to Bicycle with Children

February 24, 2010 by Nancy Sathre-Vogel · Leave a Comment

After bicycling with your children in a trailer, you may be wondering if your baby is now able to move on to her own trailer bike. The answer to that question is - maybe. Most children are able to ride safely on a trailer bike from about age 3 or 4, but it will depend on your child.

Your child can be part of your team when she rides on a trailer bike (tag-along, trail-a-bike) - a one-wheeled contraption that hooks on to your bike. As long as she is tall enough to reach the pedals, she'll be able to ride safely. She will have her own little bike safely attached to yours.

Please consider all factors of the trailer bike - both advantages and disadvantages:

Advantages:

She is working right alongside you rather than being dead weight. As a team, you will climb hills together and will rejoice when you reach the top.

On the trailer bike, the pedals are independent of yours, which means she can pedal when she wants and rest when she wants.

Disadvantages:

You will have to plan for rain or other inclement weather more carefully. In the trailer, it is easy to protect the child but is much more difficult on the trailer bike.

Just like being lulled to sleep in a car, your child can easily fall asleep on her trailer bike. If you feel a jerking on your bike - stop!

If you have the single gear variety of trailer bike, she won't be able to pedal going up hills. Just like you, she needs gears - but does she know how to use them?

Bicycling with your children will be a wonderful experience for both of you!

Tandem Comfort Bike Kent Dual Drive

February 22, 2010 by John Doherty · Leave a Comment

Kent Dual Drive Tandem bike has a different look than the other tandem bikes. The silver fades into a gun-metal grey with a few red accents and black grips, seats and tires makes this bicycle very interesting looking with a slight retro accent. Also it has very nice and smooth ride.

The brakes are decent but not disc brake systems, but rather those small "v" brake systems. Tires are great and large enough to have a quiet ride and in fact, were astonishingly easy to manage and navigate. Shifters are in the handle and work just great. You can't get quick turns with this as the bike is long. So you should get the turns a little bit slow and carefully.

The bike has very smooth ride much smoother than expected. Just great. You can reach very good speed but carefully when you turn, you going to have a lot of fun for a couple and low price. Great bike! The brakes and derailleurs work awesomely. The shifts are precise. It is a great family bicycle.

I am very enthusiastic bike rider. I have many miles have ridden on my road bicycle. I had some hesitations about the tandem bike especially for the price. It didn't disappoint me; I got exactly what I expected. The assemblage was easy and the bike performs extremely well. The shifting is a little tough, but acceptable, especially in this price range.

Also purchase of Kent Dual Drive Tandem bike is a good deal. The local bike stores had much more overpriced bicycles. They were as well not as good looking as this bicycle. The bike arrived with the front wheel, seats and the handgrip bars off, so I had to put them together but it didn't take me more than half an hour. Riding this bicycle is not hard at all compared to a normal mountain bicycle. You don't need to paddle it strong for it to run fast enough. The additional person on the back does not seem impact a lot the handling

Kent Dual Drive Tandem is not a special quality or high-priced bike it is lots better quality than most straight bikes being sold-out out there now and ride extremely good over time. However, very delighted with this buy. Very good ride, nice looking, holds up good over time. Indeed if you want to get all benefits of bicycle-built-for-two and still looking for bicycle to beginning you off, you can't go wrong with this one. Wonderful bicycle for the money!

Bike Rental Central Park Provides The Healthiest Way To Have Fun

February 21, 2010 by Javier Kreis · Leave a Comment

Riding a bike gives us this feeling of dj vu; remembering our childhood days when we were in the community park with our friends, riding a bike, sipping lemonades and endless chat, especially in summertime. Riding a bike can give us this great feeling that we can not sometimes find in our everyday life of school or work. If you want to unwind and smell some fresh air, visit a bike rental Central Park and inquire about their services.

There are several bike rentals around which offer Central Park bike tours. You have an option whether you want to rent the bike by their minimum hour or for the whole day when you like. You can always ask the person in-charge of a particular bike rental Central Park is offering.

New York is one of the best cities in the United States if you want to go sightseeing. And what is more practical and most convenient way to explore the city than bikes?

Using bikes is also environment-friendly and economical compared to the more favored tour bus. If you are staying in New York for a couple of days and wanted that bike with you, arrange the necessary papers and payment in advance and you can also ask the bike rental management to deliver the bike personally at your hotel.

There are also numerous Central Park bike tours that you can avail of. If you are alone in the city and you want to tag along with a group, you can inquire at several bike rental shops if they offer group tours. And if they have, ask for the schedule to make sure that that particular day and time of the tour fits in your schedule.

If you are in a group of not less than 10 persons, they offer promos and discounts for the whole group. You can also request several Central Park bike tours shops for their group rates and compare it so you are sure that you are going to have a good deal.

Also, ask where the tour is heading, what popular landmarks you are going to cover, famous spots and maybe, just maybe, some famous celebrities' houses or apartments. During the Central Park bike tours, ask also about the maximum time that the tour would end to adjust with the necessary schedules that you have.

When checking into the bike rental Central Park shop, bring your camera with you, souvenir photos are always a good thing to look at. And don't forget to bring bottled water, money for snacks, and always wear comfortable biking clothes.

For all you bike lovers out there, bike rental central park is the only choice for you. That's right, central park bike tours will be the funnest thing you ever to, I promise. Get a totally unique version of this article from our article submission service

Road Bike GMC Denali

February 20, 2010 by Dave Williams · Leave a Comment

GMC Denali Road is a nice looking bike and since road bikes are pretty much only sold in bike shops, most people will assume it cost a LOT more than it really did. A friend asked if I spent "over $1,000" on it. Great gears, I hit 38.5mph on a downhill with some gear remaining, and managed 32.4mph on level ground with a tailwind (measured using handlebar mounted GPS receiver). I can cruise overall in the 16-20mph range for the first hour. I have no problems with build quality. The welds look good, the bike seems solid, the seat tube fit fine. I was surprised how well the frame fits my 6'0" size.

My first impression was that I found it awkward to have to reach down to use the brakes. I got used to that fast. My second impression was how effortless it was to go fast on this bike. The 63cm, black and silver Denali, rides really smooth. I will say that this bike is really fantastic for the price. I am so impressed with the quality for fewer than two hundred bucks.

I was very impressed when I saw in a bike shop used one for the price three times higher Than GMC road bike looking almost the same. The seller tried to convince me to get the used one but I decided to get new one GMC .It has nice design ,alominum frame, shimano derailleur and it behaves very well on the road.

The seat is wide for a route bike, and the Denali pedals easily, taking long drives a child's play. Welcomed addition is a kickstand. The gear shifting appears to be fine overall to me, and conveniently placed on the handle bars. Because the bicycle is stable aluminum, it is fair lightweight and very long-lasting. If you need a real bargain get GMC road bike.

The design of GMC seems to follow Ford Motor Company's "built tough" motto. So that's why the purchasers consider is that it is a bit heavier but stronger than different standard (bianchi, trek, giant) bikes. Unfortunately the price of some sort of composite: carbon and titanium frame bikes will cost you up $1500 new, at least)

Another aspect individuals will easily omit is that the forks, unlike the frame, is made of steel so they're heavier than regular but this is because while aluminum is lighter than steel, it is too stronger which would build for a bone jarring ride; the simply real result to this is to get 200-300$ entirely carbon.

My general conclusion is that you can't find better price. I am very happy with the bicycle GMC Denali. The bike is lightweight, has really fabulous gearing, and can be real fast. It goes better than it stops. Replacements several key component parts will improve the bicycle significantly. It is not the great one but when you factor in the price, it is a wonderful deal.

Flat Bar Mens Road Bike Schwinn Volare

February 19, 2010 by John Doherty · Leave a Comment

I bought Schwinn Volare bike a couple of days ago and I am really happy with the purchase. I consider this bicycle is a good bike for beginners to exercise or recreational rallying. Yes, you can buy nicer one but not in the less than $250 or so range.

I personally bought Schwinn Volare to begin commuting to work and didn't want to put out a lot of money until I know for sure I will keep it up, later I can buy a new bike or upgrade the parts as they break. The short rides I've taken so far it rode very smooth, stopped very well, and the seat wasn't too bad for how hard it is.

The shifts and brakes are excellent .It took me about an hour to adjust the brakes but now the bike is perfect. The brakes align easy and precisely as to how you like them. This is not a competition bike. But it is very comfortable, nice, outstanding bike.

It was easy to get together the bike. I didn't need any additional tune or adjustment. Schwinn Volare bicycle is super light weight at about 42 pounds with thin tires to pick up speed quickly. I really love this bike and the gears are easy to switch and the bike handles the route very good.

The derailers of the bike needed a little adjustment but that is typical for any new bike. Since then it's been functioning extremely perfect and has needed nothing! The precise lightweight wheels and really solid component parts make this a super for the money, and the flat bar is really sufficient for city cruising!

This bike is really good. The welds on the frame are done just perfect and bike seems really safe. The bike is absolutely reliable, so I give two tumbs up and extremely recommend it.

Bike Riding in the Great Mid-Atlantic States

February 17, 2010 by PJ Walker · Leave a Comment

The Mid-Atlantic States are home to some of the greatest cities in the country. They are also home to some of the most beautiful and scenic bike trails. These trails are a great way to get a true appreciation of the natural beauty in this region.

Hartwood Acres, just outside of Pittsburg has a little something for everyone. Experienced bikers will enjoy the quick switchbacks, downhill slopes, tough climbs and lots of root and log jumps. Hartwood Acres has over fifteen miles of trails including beautiful rock gardens and an unbelievable Tudor mansion to explore. The trails are free but there is a nominal fee for checking out the estate.

A stone's throw from Waverly City, OH is the Scioto Trail State Forest. With over 26 miles of gravel and dirt trails, there are plenty to choose from. The skill levels range from beginners to experienced, but the trails are shared with pedestrians and horseback riders. Be sure to come prepared with water!

The Freedom Park near Williamsburg, Virginia has three loops that total about 5 miles. There are a number of short, steep hills and a fairly long straight downhill section. There are a few log obstacles and even some bridges to cross, but not too many roots. Beginners might find it a little daunting, but it can be done by a novice if you're up for it!

Richwood, West Virginia has the Kennison Mountain Trail which is the perfect place to practice technical skills. Kennison Mountain Trail has an eight mile loop that is loaded with tough downhills, rocky singletrack, and slippery mud. Beginners can survive Kennison Mountain but they will need to give maximum effort. Intermediate riders will have a blast on their way to becoming experts along these fun eight miles.

Bryson City, North Carolina has quite a few biking trails, Thompson Loop and Mouse Branch are among the mid-atlantic's best. There is a small fee to ride either of these trails but a yearly pass is available for only fifteen dollars. Be careful when you arrive however, because bikes are only allowed on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Thompson Loop is almost 8 miles with lots of logginf roads and some steep climbs. You'll be rewarded for the effort with a mile long descent that has some cool banked curves. You haven't had this much fun since you were ten years old.

Mouse Branch is almost 7 miles long and has fewer climbs but some pretty fast downhills. There is a scenic overlook that makes a great resting spot. The southside trail used to be called Tour de Dump but is now redone and winning biker over everyday. It is lightly used so it's a great place to practice and is nice and simple for beginners.

These trails are just the tip of the iceberg of the biking that the mid-atlantic states have to offer. If you are planning to do some cheaper traveling this year, these trails, and many others in the mid-atlantic region await you and your bike. Enjoy them.

The History Of The Motorcycle Past Present And Future

February 15, 2010 by L.J. James · Leave a Comment

Many of the "facts" in this story are based on Legend and Myth as much of the history of the Motorcycle and it's Culture was lost in the Great Rebellion of 2057.

Taken from a history book in the year 2095... Motorcycles And The Culture They Inspire 1868-2017

Motorcycles started out as steam engines strapped on to bicycles in 1868. Soon after the gas engine took its place and by the 1900's there were Motorcycle shops and Dealers all over the World. For awhile, Motorcycle's were simply used as transportation. In 1907, when Henry Fords, Ford Motor Company, released the Model-T at a price many could afford, the Motorcycle soon went from a necessity to a luxury item.

In the 1940's, the Motorcycle Culture really took off. An organization called the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) held races and events all over the United States of America. In 1947 the AMA held an event in Hollister California. This event was attended by many of the AMA Racing Teams and Motorcycle Clubs. This event marks the beginning of the separation of Motorcyclists which eventually led to the end of Motorcycling in the year 2017. Newspapers, being what they where in 1947, got a hold of some pictures of Motorcyclists having fun at the event. The press decided to embellish the facts and transformed the story into a torrid tale of Bikers taking over a small town! More negative news stories soon followed. Soon after Hollywood began releasing movies that portrayed Motorcyclists as lawless and evil.

The American Motorcyclist Association, trying to end the bad press, responded by basically saying that the Newspapers had lied and that it was only 1% of the Motorcyclists that caused problems. This resulted in the first ripple in the Unity of the Motorcycle World and the Medias' hatred of Bikers. Around the same time, the AMA began adding new requirements for motorcycles to be able to race in AMA sanctioned Races. Those whose motorcycles didn't meet the new AMA requirements started their own Race Leagues. Because the new Race Leagues/Clubs were not AMA sanctioned, they soon became known as Outlaw Race Leagues/Clubs. Although many Bikers raced in both the AMA and Outlaw Leagues, another great separation had begun.

By the late 1960's, the separation of the Motorcycle Community was becoming more evident. There were now three basic Motorcycle groups. The American Motorcycle Association, Outlaw/ 1%er Clubs(All 1%ers were Outlaws, but not all Outlaws were considered 1%ers) and Independent Riders. Over the years, the AMA continued to grow. In addition to racing, they began to champion Motorcycle Rights and Safety. As time went on, others formed independent groups whose goals were similar to that of the AMA. The inability or outright refusal of these groups to work together with each other, resulted in further separation of the Motorcycle Community and Culture.

In the 1970's, rifts began to grow between some of the Outlaw/1% Clubs. By the 1990's, the media had inflated these conflicts into stories that rivaled the tall tales of the old west. These tall tales where ment to invoked fear of the Outlaw/1% Clubs in the public. Everyone was lied to,. They were told to stay away from and fear all Outlaw/1% Clubs. The media began referring to Motorcycle Clubs as Motorcycle Gangs, a term meant to further instill fear into the heart of the Public. Stories and rumors began surfacing, claiming these "Gangs" were ruthless and would kill or maim people for little or no reason at all. By the early 21st Century, every minor conflict between Outlaw/1% Clubs was made into a book, made for TV movie, or docudrama. Titles like "Motorcycle Gang Wars In Your Back Yard" were common. Although real wars, conflicts, and suffering were occurring worldwide, the Corporate owned media chose to report fiction over fact.

In 2009, a conflict between two rival Clubs was captured on Video at a "Biker Build Off" event. The coverage by the media and negative publicity that followed was so overwhelming that in 2010, the United States Government passed a law banning all Outlaw/1% Clubs. In response, the Outlaw/1% Clubs put aside their differences and formed "Bikers United". The Bikers fought back stating the law was unconstitutional and un-American. Even as late as 2010, Many Americans still clung to the misguided belief that they had rights and lived in a free Nation. The Bikers fought hard and came very close to winning, but without the support of the Motorcycle Rights Groups,The many other Clubs, and the Independent Riders, all of whom had been brainwashed into believing the Outlaw Clubs were criminal organizations, they were defeated.

Many of the Outlaw/1% Clubs tried to stay together. The Clubs went underground, but after many raids and constant Government harassment, they all but disappeared. In 2013, in an effort to ensure that the Outlaw/1% Clubs never returned, the Government decided to outlaw all Motorcycle Clubs and organizations. The AMA, the many Clubs and Motorcycle Rights Organizations United in an effort to battle the Governments oppression. They tried to use many of the same tactics and strategies that the Outlaw/1% Clubs used. Unfortunately, the Government was much smarter and stronger this time around. They had learned many lessons in their fierce battles with the Outlaw/1% Clubs, and they used what they had learned against the united Clubs and Organizations. With no Outlaw/1% Clubs left to assist them and without the support of the Independent Riders, the United Clubs and Organizations were defeated.

In 2015, the Government passed a law that made it illegal to even look like an Outlaw on a Motorcycle. The Independent Riders banned together to try and fight the law, but by this time their numbers were few and there wasn't anyone left to show them how to fight for their rights. After a brief protest, they too were soundly defeated. In 2017, What was now a "Global Government", in its infinite wisdom, decided that Motorcycles posed a danger to the public. They passed a law banning the manufacturing of Motorcycle's and their use! They ordered that all existing Motorcyclesbe destroyed. This brought to an end, the History of Motorcycles. It would take until the year 2093 before anything even close to resembling a Motorcycle reappeared.

As a Historian looking back at the History of Motorcycles and the Culture it created, it amazes me how powerful the Motorcycle Culture could have been had they not let every little thing separate them. Instead of embracing something they all had in common and working together to protect it, they instead let their differences, the media, and the government divide them. By the time the Bikers realized how much they were connected and needed each other, it was too late. Their numbers were certainly sufficient to achieve victory, but their failure to come together as Brothers and Sisters and work for the common good ultimately caused their demise. Had they been victorious, it may have been enough to stop all of the oppression and tyranny that soon followed. History is full of stories just like this one, over and over again. The ones who love and honor Freedom the most are taken down first and the rest soon fall like dominoes. Until the Great Rebellion of 2057, we as a Global Society did not realize how important it was to put aside our differences. It may have taken awhile, but we finally figured it out...Just in time!

Schwinn Meridian Adult 26-Inch 3-Wheel Bike

February 12, 2010 by Dave Williams · Leave a Comment

Schwinn Meridian Adult 26-inch 3-Wheel is a very good bicycle at a great price. This bike is extremely easy rolling and pedaling. With just one speed you can average 7 to 8 mph. It is comfortable and has an extremely large basket to carry shopping. It is a very sturdy bike, the frame is put together so well you can't image it ever failing due to build quality and as long as you put it together properly, it should last you a very long time.

The bike Schwinn Meridian is a phenomenal .So easy to maneuver in narrow spots and traffic, no headaches about potentially damaging late-night crashes. It has a big basket perfectly design for shopping and picnic. The balance on three wheels bike is just piece of cake, perfect for people who don't have good balance on a two wheel bike

I am very happy with how tough it is and how easy it is to pedal. I have two young healthy dogs that want a lot more practice then I could give them. Actually I purchased the bicycle to exercise them with and it is working out better than I could have ever hoped. The bicycle is very stable so if the dogs draw tough to one side it doesn't budge.

The Brakes of Schwinn Meridian Adult 26-inch 3-Wheel bikes are very good and you can refine the adjustments to avoid rubbing pads easily. The brakes are wonderful- stop on a dime and I couldn't be happier with its quality and function. The brakes are excellent and you don't need too much effort on the fingers to stop quickly.

The Schwinn Meridian Adult 26-Inch 3-Wheel Bike is a wonderful. It is a unique one speed bicycle very well designed and easy to pedal. It was simple to get together. All in all I would be glad to recommend Schwinn Meridian Adult 26-inch 3-Wheel bike to anyone.

Information About Foldable Exercise Bicycles

February 10, 2010 by Wesley Shoga · Leave a Comment

You can firm up your legs plus upper body, (especially stomach muscles), by using an exercise bicycle, and if you do not want to use up extra room space in your home have a go on a foldable or folding type.

A traditional upright stationary bicycle will always have to take up a certain quantity of floor space inside your house or else in a gym. You could have the area in your home for one although lots of folk do not plus should you try an alternative route and take out a sports center membership, you will be paying loads more money, although every fitness center would of course have a lot of additional machines for your cash. The folding variety of upright or recumbent stationary bike, provides a solution to the issue of not enough room by being simple to move as well as put away.

One of the excellent advantages of these foldable bikes is their portability; you may well go to work inside an office and could really benefit through the exercise you might get by using a bicycle you keep inside a closet.

Due to being portable as well as easy movement, storage is effortless as you could locate these bikes in a folded state in the corner of a room or inside a cabinet wherever they might be kept discretely.

When the folding bike is set up for using it takes the form of an X shape. This structure is best for carrying the weight of the user plus the pedal action it is intended for without breaking or tipping over. You simply fold the bike's X shape together in order to flatten it when you have completed your workout.

As with all stationary bikes, they will reproduce the force essential in order to bicycle up different degrees of slope through using a resistance mechanism, usually magnetic, which you could vary and set to your required setting.

Further parts of the bike which are normally customizable and adaptable include the sitting level plus angle and mostly the capacity to alter the seat to something else more to your choice. Not surprisingly, this adjustability is based on the brand that you get.

Whatever up to date stationary bike, foldable or otherwise, will have an electronic mechanism that will keep an eye on your performance during your exercise routine as well as allow you to evaluate former accomplishments. These computerised screens will ordinarily comprise info regarding the speed you reached, time taken, kilometers cycled and also calories you might have used up.

Build quality is an important concern with these bicycles, since they will be moved around and put up with daily use, so don't automatically search for the least expensive because you may well be changing it sooner than anticipated. It's better to spend that fraction extra on quality that'll serve you for many years.

Most people know that you need exercise to feel healthier and to lose weight. Using a quality folding exercise bike is a great way to do it, bikes such as the Stamina Fitness 15 0200.

An Introduction to Custom Cycling Socks

February 7, 2010 by Joe Pied · Leave a Comment

Cycling socks? What are those? If you cycle a lot, regardless of whether you're in exercising for that sport or not, you will need a specific kind of sock so that the moisture your feet generate isn't going to be soaked up by your skin and therefore causes it to be considerably more susceptible to skin irritations and blisters. On top of that, other fungal and microbial infections are usually considerably more frequent in feet which are always wet.

Coping with moisture: Biking socks use specialized yarns, which wick moisture off the skin; the moisture is transmitted to an outer layer so that the skin continues to breathe and the feet stay dry, which helps keeping them free of blisters and less susceptible to microbial and fungal infections.

Biking socks are also special due to the fact they don't require breathable sneakers to evaporate sweat. Rather, their own specific combination of wicking and "water loving" yarns absorb moisture and lock it away from the skin. On top of that, should you be cycling in cold weather, you need yarns that are going to insulate and keep your feet warm, too. So these insulating fibers employed for the cycling socks also trap warmth and air even as they wick away humidity and enable skin to breathe.

Ultimately, your feet also need to be waterproofed from external sources of moisture, such as rain. Cycling socks can mix wicking and thermal protection, combined with ability to waterproof by putting a water-resistant woody over the tops of the shoes. Therefore, the most effective cycling socks combine these types of fibers to ensure that all of these different specifications can be met -- including accounting for extreme conditions and the various kinds of cycling involved.

Support and flexion for the ankle along with breathability matter, too. That is why the most effective cycling socks possess special cuffs to hold them. Ankle flexion, too, is essential because socks should not bunch up where the ankle is flexed. If socks contain Lycra, though, they can stay fitted tightly to the skin without bunching.

Why custom cycling socks? Custom cycling socks can be great since you can produce quite a volume of them very cheaply -- and you can advertise your team or event as well, very affordably. Actually if you wish, you can design the socks right on your own computer and have them developed for a very modest cost. You can even get quotes before you make a final determination as to what you should do in regard to the designs on your custom made cycling socks.

Fast turnaround times: Along with the low cost, quick turnaround times can also be the order of the day when looking at getting your team custom-made cycling socks. Many places can help you expedite the order process smoothly, and usually socks can be ordered online to ensure that your order is placed right away; you should have your socks in no time.

Rest assured that your crew or company will be proud of their high-quality cycling socks, and it will help them do better with the activities you have planned, as well. In the end, team spirit is certainly worth something, and with the advantages cycling socks already offer, the personalization of custom-made cycling socks makes things even better.
