by Chris Harvey
Why use an exercise bike? Many people may use them for the sole purpose of losing weight, and use the bike to increase their general fitness level. Many people use them for special physical training, such as a type of physical event. Also people may use them because they still need to exercise but may have an injury keeping them from doing other types of physical training, such as running.
Many individuals use an exercise bike for physical training. This bike offers a low-stress, low-impact workout for the individual who have certain injuries that keep them form doing other forms of exercise, such as running, jogging, or walking. It is a great alternative for the ones who cannot use an injured body part for physical training. They can still get their workout, but will not stress their joints.
People have been using exercise bikes for years, and there are many reasons why. It is a great way to get cardiovascular exercise and it is a low-stress exercise for the joints. There are options of using an indoor stationary bike, or to use a real bike with wheels for the outdoors. These bikes have many options for different interests.
A recumbent bike is the type of bike that has a backrest and is reclined. It is different than most of the bikes that you see people riding on the street, this one is where the rider is leaning back and pedaling forward instead of pushing down like on a regular bike. The individuals that have back problems or may have knee injuries, this bike would be an excellent choice.
Recumbent bikes are the type of bike that most beginners will feel more comfortable with using. For one reason is that it is easier to use for the beginner type. The resistance can be set on a low setting to ease the rider into the exercise. As the beginner rider progresses in their workout, they can set the resistance level to a higher setting.
An upright stationary bike is familiar to most people, these are the types of bikes that are seen on the streets. The person riding this type of bike will sit upright and will pedal in an up and down motion. People who do not suffer from back pain of knee pain, seem to choose this type of bike. It tends to burn more calories than the recumbent type, because the rider uses his muscles more to balance himself.
The way to properly use an upright stationary bike, the rider should take the time to adjust the seating to their proper height. Many times if the seat is not properly adjusted to the riders height, it tends to strain the back muscles and injury may be a problem. The rider should sit on the seat and adjust the height to their specific level of comfort. They can also prevent injury by starting off with a low-resistance level and then gradually increase the resistance as they progress.
People who love to ride, especially for the sake of exercise, love the opportunities that the exercise bike gives. They are great for providing the proper amount of cardiovascular exercise for that persons needs. They can choose to work out indoors on a stationary bike, or work out outside with a real bike with wheels and enjoy the outdoors. There are many different options the rider can choose.
