Great Places to Ride Your Bike in Nevada

The state of Nevada is located between two mountain ranges forming the Great Basin. It is also known for the Mojave Desert. Therefore, riding in certain parts of the state during the summertime can be dangerous if you don't stay hydrated. Always carry water, ride with a friend, and take frequent breaks to cool off.
The Boulder City Mountain Bike Park offers over 20 miles of trails to choose from. The trails are designed for experienced riders who enjoy technical terrain. There are some steep climbs but you're rewarded with sizzling descents. Intermediate riders can also hone their skills here. The trails are well-maintained and well-marked so prepare for hours of enjoyable riding.
The trail to Star Lake near Stateline is 16 miles out and back. It starts at Heavenly Valley Stagecoach lift. As you go on you will come upon a steep climb. Follow the sign that says Tahoe Rim Trail. There will be some rock steps to look for. As well, the cliffs beside the trail have far drops, so use caution and keep your eyes on the trail. If you wish to enjoy the splendiferous beauty around you do so after you stop. You can see view of Carson Valley as well as Lake Tahoe too.
Another frequently visited "Tahoe trail" is Flume Trail. There is a 22-mile loop that goes around the rim of Lake Tahoe. The trail is well marked and pretty flat which makes is perfect for beginners. However if you are seeking more of a challenge then check out the trail from Spooner Lake to Mariette Lake. You will have a grueling climb ahead of you, however the view are gorgeous! This is one of the most well known trails in the whole state so be courteous to others who you pass on the trail.
Cottonwood Canyon near Las Vegas has around 15 miles of track to ride. The trails go from rocky to sandy however they are all out in the open making it impossible to get lost. Riders of all skill levels can enjoy various trails but because the location is in the desert make sure you carry along a lot of water! It is very hot there in the summer!
Another trail close to Las Vegas, that does not have extremely hot temperatures is Bristlecone Pine. This 5-mile loop includes some steep climbs but because it is located in higher altitude it is much cooler than in the valley. The trails are both very enjoyable and scenic as well. Bring your camera along for some exquisite photographs.
At the Copper Basin Trail by Battle Mountain you can find a network of 15 miles of trails. There are many technical challenges to watch for such as ridge line rides, zooming descents, rocks, roots and more. Getting lost is easy in these trails, so make sure you pick up a map of the area. With a map you may pick the trails that are appropriate for your skill level and the distance you want to go, or just spend the day having a good time!
Nevada has a variety of terrains ranging from flat plains to mountain ranges. This is a biker's paradise. There's plenty of room to hone your skills or just flat-out have fun! Be safe and happy trails!
